Pasadena, CA.

It's been a long time without new work here at Outafocus. But I'm back...starting a new series. Deep breath...

I wasn't going to post this image, but my good pal and photographic and spiritual confidant Tom Chambers said it was a winner. I had to sit with it since I didn't know if it was conveying what I wanted...That, and I'm my own worst critic---but what do I know. I just make these things... If it sucks, blame it on Tom! ;)

I tend to immerse myself and live in the subject matter of my series when I shooting them...
If that's the case, the next 6-8 months should be interesting.
(recovering method actors...what can you do?)

Paul Giguere recently interviewed me for his podcast, Thoughts On Photography Check it out if have 20 minutes to spare and feel like hearing me chat it up about my crappy homemade cameras and process.

And if you're in the San Diego area, I have a piece in Art of Photography exhibition. Opening is tomorrow, April 25 from 6-9pm. Bummed I can't attend. But if anyone out there makes it, please let me know how the show goes.

See you again soon with more pics.

Los Angeles, CA.

I keep promising new work, but life continues to throw me some curves.

To those of you who have sent emails in the past months asking what the heck is up with the blog--thanks for sticking in there.

I've never posted the last image in the Between series, so here you have it. The title is fitting to circumstances in my life right now so though I'd put it up.

If any of you are attending The Palm Springs Photo Festival fine art print walk, please stop by my table and say howdy between 3-6pm tomorrow, Sunday March 30th. Hope to see you there!

Also, thrilled about my features in the latest Camera Arts and the Spring issue of PDN EDU. Click links to read...
And thanks to Russell for putting me in the Spring issue of Shots Magazine. Love that magazine. If you don't subscribe, you should seriously consider it. It's one of the few magazines that endlessly inspires.

And last but not least, honored to be featured in an online exhibit up at Luminous Lint. It's an amazing resource for all photographers. If you're not familiar with it, check it out. And if you are a fine art photographer...submit!

Yes, here is the standard scary exhibition shot of me with gallery owner, Crista Dix, at the opening of my Wall Space solo show last week.

Thanks to Crista and Vick who put endless hours into making the show so special.

And thanks to anyone out there who supported the work and attended the opening or anyone who plans to attend the show before it closes April 5.

I posted more images from the show HERE at filmwasters.

Speaking of filmwasters, check out the latest podcast with all the regulars and our lovely, talented and slightly drunk special guest Gordon Stettinus. It's great fun.

But wait, there's more....
I'm featured in the latest issue of PDN EDU. They've published the printed version online for all the read HERE

Now I'm off to Houston for Fotofest this weekend....

If you're in the area or attending Fotofest festivities, please stop by and say hi--You can find me at the Open Portfolio Walk, Thursday March 19th at 7pm at the Doubletree Downtown. Hope to see you there!

Front of Postcard for my Wall Space Solo Show

If you are in the Seattle area, please join me at Wall Space Gallery March 6th from 6-8pm for the artist reception for my first solo show, Introspection. Very exciting. :)

The show includes a collection of images from my new series, Between, my last series, On Waking Dreams, and this image of Blue from the Instinct series. Can't thank the wonderful and talented Crista Dix enough for all of her hard work in putting the show together.

Other exciting news...

I'm beyond thrilled to announce that Soulcatcher Studio in Santa Fe now represents my work.

Also, I'm featured in the March/April issue of Camera Arts and the Spring issue of PDN EDU which comes out in a few weeks.

And you can catch me exhibiting my work along side some exceptional photographers at the Palm Springs Photo Festival on March 30th from 3-6pm. If you're attending or if you live in the area stop on by to say howdy. I'll be the one with the blurry pictures and the Stetson. Yes, Stetson. I rarely go anywhere without one.

Oh, and I nearly forgot---I'll be at the third session of Fotofest. If you're in the area, hope to see you at Open Portfolio Review Night on Wednesday, March 19 at 7 pm at the Doubletree Hotel-Houston Downtown. Finally! A place I can wear my Stetsons and not look (too) out of place. Yeehah! Scaring you, huh?

I'll pop some snaps up from the solo show next week. Hope to see you there!

This one is from my recently completed series, Between.

New blur should be coming your way in the not so distant future.
The new series is rising to the surface...fingers crossed.

The 4th filmwasters podcast is now online here.

This edition features our always entertaining host, Ed Wenn, myself, and our good pal Aline Smithson. It was a small, but cozy group. Podcast regulars, Leon Taylor, Mark Skorji, Damion Rice and Ailsa McWhinnie were missing in action, but will surely return next month.

Due to skype problems I ended up sounding like a drowning parakeet with a lisp...But rumor is it's worth checking out despite my vocally challenged self.

And if you're in the New Orleans area, check out the opening of Toy Stories at The New Orleans Photo Alliance on Feb 16th. I'm proud to have juried such a fine exhibition. Wish I could attend in person, but congrats to all in the show. More details about the show and the opening can be found at the Alliance's blog

Photo LA. Barker Hanger. Santa Monica, CA.

I'm finally winding down from an extremely exciting and busy Photo LA.

I can't thank my gallery mom Susan Spiritus (above next to a rather taxed out me at the closing minutes of the show) enough for championing my work for the last year then featuring it at Photo LA. She's made a lot of dreams come true for me over the last 12 months.

Huge thanks and endless hugs to the wonderful Crista Dix at Wall Space for also exhibiting my work. Crista made endless sacrifices over the past six months to get us to Photo LA and she deserves ten medals for all of her efforts.

I saw a lot of old friends, made a lot of new friends, had a great time, nearly collapsed from exhaustion nightly, learned a lot --and the icing on the cake--my blurry work can soon be had at Watermark Gallery in Houston. Really excited about that since they're great folks, they rep three pals'o mine and I love their aesthetics.

So with only 24 hours until I celebrate my 29th birthday (e'hem...cough), endless thanks to all of you--my blogging pals-- for helping make this past year the best ever. Hugs to all.

More blurry pictures to come in a few...

Thank you to those of you who sent those 'where the hell have you been?' emails--I'm still alive.
Just inundated with prep work for Photo LA.
If any of you are attending Jan 11-13, my work will be exhibited at the Susan Spirtus Gallery and Wall Space Gallery.
Let me know if you're popping by so I can be sure to say hi.

Wishing you all the happiest of holiday seasons and a magical 2008.
